Communication
Spectoda installations communicate through a local wireless mesh built around Spectoda Controllers. The exact communication setup depends on the firmware, controller type and installation requirements.
Main layers
Section titled “Main layers”ESP-NOW mesh
Section titled “ESP-NOW mesh”Controllers use ESP-NOW for fast local communication between devices. This makes it possible to control multiple luminaires as one installation without relying on a central Wi-Fi router for every command.
Wi-Fi and cloud connectivity
Section titled “Wi-Fi and cloud connectivity”Some installations also include Wi-Fi or a Spectoda Gateway. This is used for remote service, remote control, analytics or integrations when the project needs cloud features.
Wired and lighting protocols
Section titled “Wired and lighting protocols”Depending on the product family, Spectoda can work with DALI, digital LED strips, DMX, Art-Net, sACN, PWM, GPIO and other IO options. See Connectivity for a practical overview.
What to check first
Section titled “What to check first”- The controller firmware version
- The required IO or protocol type
- Whether the installation should work only locally or also remotely
- Whether a Gateway or cloud service is part of the project
